Happy New Year?

In the church calendar, we are indeed closing an old year and welcoming a new one. The last Sunday of the year is November 25, 'Christ the King' Sunday, and the new year begins with 'Advent' on Sunday December 2. As is true every where else, this is a busy time.

Nov. 18 and 25 - Rehearsal for White Gift Sunday

Dec. 2 - White Gift Sunday
Dec. 9 - Rehearsal for Christmas Concert
Dec. 14 - Christmas Concert at the Ekfrid Community Centre. Pot luck dinner, lots of fun, and Santa will be there.
Dec. 16 - Communion
Dec. 24 - Join Trinity for Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 30 - Session will lead worship
Jan. 6 - Epiphany Party after worship

Trinity

Nov. 20 - Memorial service celebrating the life of Vickie Howe and Ken McDonald at 1:00 p.m.
Nov. 21 - Unified Board meeting at 7:45 p.m. with related committees meeting prior
Nov. 22 - Official Board meeting in Appin at 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 27 - Christmas decorating bee at 9 a.m. Many hands make light work!
Dec. 1 - UCW Bazaar and Bake Sale with Soup and Sandwich Lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dec. 9 - White Gift Sunday. Angel tree gifts should be brought to church today.
Dec. 16 - Communion
Dec. 24 - Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m.
Dec. 30 - Session will lead worship

We are sad to say 'good-bye' to Rev. Barbara Clark at the end of the calendar year, but happy for her as she is moving to a pastoral charge closer to her home. We thank her for her time with us, for her leadership and her special musical talent, and wish her well in her new charge.

Fall

Appin will be celebrating its Anniversary this Sunday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. with musical leadership by 'Heartsong'. Please join us for this special worship and lunch following.

Trinity

October 17 - Unified Board meeting at 7:45 p.m. with related committees meeting prior.

October 24 - UCW Soup and Sandwich Lunch 11:30 to 1:00

Summer schedules

Summer is flying by! Both Appin and Trinity will be closed for the month of August and we are invited to worship with our Presbyterian neighbours.

Spring into Summer

Here are a few of the things happening at Glencoe-Appin Pastoral Charge:


May 20 - services are withdrawn at our churches to allow attendance at the interdenominational worship service at Glencoe District High School celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the school.


May 23 - Unified Board and related committees meet at Trinity


May 27 - A special worship service celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the UCW - United Church Women. Please come and celebrate with us and support the women who support the church so faithfully.


June 10 - More celebrations! The 120th Anniversary of Trinity United Church. Guest speaker is the Rev. Philip Newman of Riverside UC in London and our special musical guests are the Emphey Sisters.


June 13 - Annual Roast Beef Dinner at Trinity. Two sittings at 5:00 and 6:30. Tickets are $13 for adults and $6 for children 6-12. Under 6 eat for free. Contact the church office for tickets.


July - We welcome our Presbyterian neighbours to worship with us.
